Overview for Surface Treament

Surface Treatment Solutions

The display surface is the first point of interaction between the user and the device. Proper surface treatment can significantly improve visibility, touch experience, cleanliness, and performance in different operating environments.
Acrowise provides various surface treatment options, including Anti-Glare (AG), Anti-Reflection (AR), Anti-Fingerprint (AF), and Anti-Bacterial (AB). Each solution is designed to address different application requirements—from reducing glare and reflection to maintaining a cleaner and more hygienic touch surface.
Combined with technologies such as high-brightness TFT displays and optical bonding, the appropriate surface treatment can further enhance display readability and overall user experience.

Design Insight

Anti-Glare
(AG)

  • Industrial HMI
  • Indoor bright environment
  • Semi-outdoor

Reduces glare by diffusing light, improving readability under strong ambient light. However, it slightly reduces contrast and sharpness. A cost-effective and commonly used solution.

Anti-Reflection
(AR)

  • High-end display
  • Outdoor
  • High optical requirement

Reduces surface reflection and improves contrast and clarity. Works best with optical bonding. Higher cost and requires process control, but delivers premium visual performance.

Anti-Fingerprint
(AF)

  • Consumer device
  • Touch interface
  • High interaction usage

Reduces fingerprints, oil, and smudges. Improves user experience but has minimal impact on optical performance. Typically combined with AG or AR.

Anti-Bacterial
(AB)

  • Medical
  • Public device
  • Hygiene-sensitive environment

Inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. More related to compliance and application requirements rather than optical performance. Adds value in specific industries.

(Was introduced during COVID)

  • In most cases, AG is typically sufficient. AR can be considered if reflection becomes noticeable or if higher contrast is required.
  • AG + AF is unnecessary
  • AR + AF is necessary (AR will enhance visibility of fingerprint)
